Florida Proton Therapy Cancer Patients
HARDER on cancer. EASIER on you.

About Us:
A Closer Look at the University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute

In August 2006, a new cancer treatment became available for the first time in the Southeast US. Proton therapy provides cancer patients excellent results with fewer treatment side effects. The state-of-the-art radiation oncology center was made possible through support from many partners including Shands Hospital, the University of Florida, and the State of Florida.

The facility was built by more than numbers and people; it is also a product of "the science of hope."

Our hope is that the University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute will not only provide the best in cancer treatment, but will also forward the field of cancer therapeutics through clinical and basic research. UFPTI is ideally staffed, situated and structured as a major clinical research facility, and will serve as a center for multidisciplinary research involving all interests that touch cancer and its treatment. UFPTI's interest extends into other clinical and scientific disciplines, including engineering, computer science, medical and legal ethics, social science, health economics, materials science and space technology.

Our goal is to further the possibilities for not only the cancer patient of today, but also the cancer patient of tomorrow.
